History

When Jarmo Rapala was a boy fishing with his father Esko, and his grandfather Lauri in the glacier carved lakes and rivers of Finland history was in the making. This is a lure making family and Lauri tutored his grandson on how to live, how to fish but most importantly how to make wooden lures.

Jarmo learned the family secrets well. He practiced his craft for 25 years before he started his own lure making company the Finnish Lure Company. Jarmo’s lures are 100% made in Finland by Finnish craftsmen. Until now Jarmo’s lures were available in very limited supply and distributed solely in Finland. However, due to a chance encounter with a long time American friend, Bill Cullerton, a special edition of Jarmo’s lures is available in the U.S. Mr.Cullerton has extensive experience in the outdoor market as he owned and operated a prominent manufacturer's rep agency out of Chicago for 35 years. Together Jarmo and Bill have decided to introduce the Jarmo brand to the U.S. with this special edition lure.
